Are there risks associated with the Covid-19 vaccination during pregnancy?

Tonight I decided to stay up and read a study that was completed on the Preliminary Findings of mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine Safety in Pregnant Persons.

Of the 827 pregnant women, 13.9% resulted in pregnancy loss and there were 221 pregnancy-related adverse events, the most frequently reported event was spontaneous abortion (46 cases).

It’s important to remember that it’s still early days, so there isn’t enough evidence to indicate the safety or efficacy of the long term impacts on the baby whilst being vaccinated during pregnancy.

Interestingly, NSW Health also citing the same study in their PDF which can be found here.

What are the possible harms from vaccination with Pfizer or Moderna during pregnancy?

COVID-19 vaccination may cause rare side effects in those who are pregnant or their babies that we do not yet know about:

Real-world evidence is available from a study of over 35,000 women who were pregnant and who had an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. This study did not find any side effects specific to those who were pregnant or their babies. However, it is still possible that there are very rare side effects that have not been detected in this study.

It’s probably worth clarifying, a total of 35,691 participants 16 to 54 years of age identified as pregnant. Among 3958 participants enrolled, only 827 had a completed pregnancy. So, I’ll repeat, of the 827 pregnant women, 13.9% resulted in pregnancy loss and there were 221 pregnancy-related adverse events, the most frequently reported event was spontaneous abortion (46 cases).

In a nutshell, you have to weigh up the risk, make an informed decision and take full responsibility for the outcome.

Your body your choice, which is one of the reasons why I’m against mandatory vaccine passports as women shouldn’t have to choose between having a family or keeping their job. What are you thoughts?
